Nuoc Cham Recipe (Vietnamese Dipping Sauce)

Nuoc cham is a staple Vietnamese condiment that can be used as a dressing, a dip or a marinade. This Vietnamese dipping sauce recipe only uses five ingredients for a bright and umami flavor explosion that instantly elevates any meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • ½ cup fish sauce
  • cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 1-2 teaspoons garlic chili paste to taste
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1-2 Thai chilis chopped (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the ingredients. Mince the garlic and freshly squeeze the lime juice.
  • Mix. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the fish sauce, water, sugar, lime juice, garlic, and garlic chili paste until the sugar is dissolved. For added heat, add chopped Thai chilis.
  • Serve or Store. You can serve this sauce immediately or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
