Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ cup cooked short or medium grain rice
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions

  • Fry your eggs. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil on a small non-stick skillet over medium heat. Crack 2 eggs into the skillet and cook until desired doneness. Drizzle extra oil along the edges of the egg whites for extra crisp.
  • Prepare the gyeran bap. In a small bowl, add the cooked rice and butter. Then place the eggs on top and season with soy sauce and sesame oil. Garnish with green onion and toasted sesame seeds.
  • Serve. Break the egg yolk and mix the egg with the rice until combined. Serve the gyeran bap with kimchi and seaweed snack and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use fresh rice. Gyeran bap is best enjoyed with freshly cooked warm rice.
  • Use quality organic eggs. Splurging on quality organic eggs with deep golden orange-yellow yolk will yield the best flavor for fried eggs with rice.
  • Cook your eggs to the desired doneness. You can cook the sunny-side-up fried eggs until runny or until well done based on your preference!
  • Preheat the pan before adding the eggs. Make sure the pan and cooking oil are hot over medium heat before adding your eggs for the ultimate crisp.
  • For added crispy edges, add a drizzle of oil along the edges of the egg white to crisp up the fried egg edges.
  • Season to your preferences. Taste and adjust the seasonings if needed and serve with kimchi and seaweed snacks for the ultimate Korean rice and eggs.
