How to make  restaurant-quality  Hot & Sour Soup

This classic Chinese soup is spicy, savory, and tangy. It's loaded with umami-packed mushrooms and is EASY to make!

This soup base is simple and accessible to make with the Chicken Broth base. All of the seasonings are easy to find at your local Asian market.

Mix and match your favorite mushrooms, but for a classic Hot & Sour Soup I recommend these types.

Cook the Broth

Season and cook the chicken broth.

Add Mushrooms, Tofu,  & Bamboo.

Bring to a boil, then simmer for 5 minutes.

Thicken with Cornstarch Slurry

Mix Cornstarch and water for a slurry, and slowly pour in and mix into the soup to thicken.

Add Egg Ribbons

Slowly pour in beat eggs while stirring slowly for egg ribbons.

Add Vinegar & Sesame Oil

More Vinegar = more "sour" flavor. Adjust to your preference.
