Frozen grilled Unagi is readily available at most Japanese grocery stores. And the sushi rice takes basic Asian seasonings.

Cook & Season Rice

Cook the sushi rice and season while it is still warm.

Bake the Unagi (Eel)

Follow the package instructions for heating your frozen unagi.

Slice Unagi in 1/2

Slice the unagi in half longways.

Slice into Sushi Pieces

Diagonally against the grain, cut the unagi into 3 inch long pieces that are 1 inch wide.

Place Rice in Hand

Place a tablespoon of rice into the palm of a wet hand.

Shape the Rice

Squeeze, roll, squeeze, repeat. Until you have an oval ball of rice.

Assemble

Place unagi on ball of rice with unagi sauce, then wrap with nori—and Enjoy!
